“…This is my doing.” (1 Kings 12:24)
Do you feel unsettled, and alone? “This is my doing.” Are you frightfully aware of your own faults? “This is my doing.” Are you in a situation where you feel disconnected and misunderstood? “This is my doing.” Is your heart restless, today? “This is my doing.”
When we take the happenstance out of life and walk in the knowledge that he has ALLOWED certain things into our lives, we live more freely. When we come to terms with the fact that he is the one, “…who created the heavens and stretched them out.” We begin to be made more and more aware of the way that he has orchestrated events. When we begin to acknowledge that he has allowed the situations in our lives, we begin to take full ownership and responsibility to the way we react to them.
You see, every lesson brings richer fruits still. You asked for humility, then receive his gift of the present circumstance. You asked for perseverance, receive his gift of that which will develop those characteristics.
Sorrow. “This is my doing.” Finances are tight. “This is my doing.” A long time of uncertainty. “This is my doing.” Hopelessness. “This is my doing.”
In all of today’s circumstances, let us be increasingly aware of his strength and presence that is available through it all. Let us ask ourselves, “What is the lesson to be learned in all of this?” and remind ourselves of the truth that, “For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” (Romans 11:36).
