I think we are more focused on the I WILL statements as a culture than the I AM statements. But, if we don’t know who Jesus IS, the I AM, then how do we know who we are IN HIM, and through him and what he will’s for us? Pay attention to the pride of Satan’s, “I WILL” statements.
Satan’s downfall shows us his desire for self-exaltation, pride, and making everything about his kingdom,
Isaiah 14:13-15 (NIV)
- I will ascend to the heavens;
- I will raise my throne
above the stars of God
- I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.
- I will ascend above the tops of the cloud
- I will make myself like the Most High.
Satan had 5 I WILL statement’s in Isaiah.
God had 5 I WILL statements in Exodus.
Jesus had 7 I WILL statements in the Gospels Jesus had 7 I AM statement’s in John.
As a culture, are we more prone and obsessed with what we WILL do, then what God will do? How can we know unless we are familiar with the I AM’S and I WILL’S of Jesus?
“I will make you fishers of men” (Matt 4:19)
“I will give you rest” (Matt 11:28)
“I will keep you.” (John 6:37)
“I will love you.” (John 14:21)
“I will do what you ask in my name.” (John 14:14)
“I will come again and see you again.” (John 14:3)
“I will send the [Holy Spirit] to you.” (John 16:7)
Oh friends, when we get to know the I AM, then the 7 I WILL’s and I AM’S in John and Mathew come into perfect view.
“I am the bread of life.” (John 6:35)
“I am the light of the world.” (John 8:12)
“I am the door of the sheep.” (John 10:9)
“I am the good shepherd.” (John 10:11)
“I am the resurrection and the life.” (John 11:25)
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6)
“I am the true vine.” (John 15:1, 5)
Today, revel in knowing the GREAT “I AM”
I don’t want to be so caught up in my own, “I WILL’S that I forget to savor the sweetness of knowing HIM, the I AM.”
The more we focus on the I AM the correct I will comes to view
