A great example of literal versus figurative inter

A great example of literal versus figurative interpretation is Genesis 1-11.
Those who believe in a literal interpretation of Genesis 1-11 means they believe each creation day would be 24 hours. Other people believe in a figurative interpretation of the creation days. They believe that Genesis 1-11 is Hebrew poetry and are revelatory days and that they are separated by long amounts of time. This same group of thought usually believes the seventh day extends for several thousand years and is still open today.
**These are just two interpretations!
There are so many examples of literal versus figurative examples of reading the text! For example, in this passage we aren’t literal sheep! He uses metaphors here to make a point! We see Jesus use metaphors and analogies a lot!
Here’s an example:
Matthew 10:16 says:  “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so bewise as serpents and innocent as doves.

Chasing is a good thing, if what you are chasing is God. Let’s be in pursuit of what matters, and stop getting in a tizzy with feeling lost for time.
You might have thought you would be somewhere else by now. You would have 5 kids, but infertility made that impossible. You thought you’d be married, you are single. You thought your business would have grown larger, but it’s tiny. You thought you would be your own boss by now.
Imagine that your GPS is like God, slow down and enjoy the ride and stop trying to beat the appointed time. #chasingsacred

Some days the demands are too much, the needs, the

Some days the demands are too much, the needs, the wants, the responsibilities. I’m exhausted from being a mom, wife, and trying my best to be a good friend. I am caught up with doing good things, and trying my best.
But, sometimes I do not realize how much of my own demands are self-inflicted, not God-inflicted.
The demands to serve are my own, I’m my own worst taskmaster as I try to strive, prove, and meet more needs than I ought. I worry, and I fret am I doing enough for my kids, my husband, my friends, my work? I’m genuinely trying my best, but I often feel that I fall flat.
The difference between Martha, and Mary might have been margin, maybe Martha was a product of hurry, but it was also letting both those outside demands, and self-inflicted demands speak louder than the voice of her Lord. Are you letting other peoples expectations speak louder over your life than the Lords desire for you?
Oh weary heart, God is not scolding you for not serving enough, he is inviting you to sit in his presence, to rest. He is inviting you to something better.
Maybe today, you need to let go of outside pressure and demands, and sit at his feet. Accept Christs invitation to rest. #chasingsacred

What does it mean that God is compassionate?
When my son Barkley cut open his entire head in a sledding accident, I ran to him, I cradled him, I wept, and I held his head together with my hands. God, who is far more resourceful than I, hears your cries, RUNS to you, cradles you, and holds you. May you never forget the Lord; the Lord is compassionate.
