“The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.”(Exodus 34:6-7)
Recently, at a woman’s retreat, I spoke about how our theology about God or our beliefs about God are revealed when we come against something HARD. A new season of life emerges, something unexpected, and our GUT response reveals our doubts about God. It is in these new seasons that God, many times, asks us to step out in Faith. He asks us to believe him for something more amidst our broken circumstances. To WAIT, when everything is telling us not to. To believe, when all appears hopeless. What if, we took God at his word, that through a VERSE like this, our response instead became to meditate on his character.
“The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion, and sin.”(Exodus 34:6-7)
What if, in the very moment that we are tempted to weigh our circumstances against our GOD and settle into doubt, we instead began to rehearse a biography of the God of the Bible. A God who, if we took him at his WORD, is CAPABLE, merciful, loving, gracious, and maintains love to thousands!
