Be. Still. And. Know. That. I. Am. God. (Psalm 46:10)
It is in the very slow of my day that I have struggled with that familiar pang of loneliness. This season of three kid leaves me missing out more than I’d like to admit.
It is loneliness that whispers, “You must find your “BE-ING in others.” Loneliness beckons to those around us that we need them to fill us up, that our BE-ing is somehow interconnected with them and their acknowledgement of us. Loneliness lies to us saying that people’s opinion/presence defines our be-ing. But, instead it is in the stillness with our creator that we truly find our being.
Solitude is a meditative practice of BE-ing where we are filled up with God, our creator. Our desire to to search for meaning in the affirmative statements of others is replaced with listening to who/what God made us to be. In Solitude we don’t become distraught with that lonely feeling. Instead, we find ourselves alone-able to hear from our God. So, in the stillness of nap times, late-night feedings, and long seasons at home, let our mind feast on BE-ing LOVED by him.
