8 Again, the devil took (Jesus) to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” (Mathew 4:8)
As I sat at a nearby café, the thoughts began to churn in my head, “I don’t know why I’m even doing this. I’m taking time away from my kids to do ministry, and it’s a lot of work! Really, am I even supposed to be doing this?”
Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, and behind every temptation was one ☝️ predominant theme; the devil’s one objective was to derail Jesus from His mission here on earth. How? By tempting him with lies wrapped with a bit of tempting truth. He did it by trying to make Jesus question his identity and his purpose.
What was Jesus response? Using the words of God, he combatted these temptations and lies with truth and confidence. Jesus knew who He was and the mission His Father called Him to fulfill. How about you? Is your identity secure in Christ and who HE says that you are? Is satan seeking to derail the mission God has placed on your heart? Don’t let him whisper discouraging thoughts in your ear. Instead, immerse yourself in the truth of God’s Word and let God affirm your identity and mission.
Thank you for this Mikella…it came at a good time and something I struggle with daily. I dont know what’s Gods mission is for me and I certainly dont need the enemy trying to derail me from something I haven’t even achieved yet.
Gahh! Preach it! You are so right! Keep fighting the good fight! You are amazing!
