15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Mark 2:15-17)
Influence. It’s bit of a buzz word these days. Everyone wants it. Whether you desire influence with your job, at home, or on Instagram.. you’re looking for influence somewhere. Instead of getting caught up in the world’s perspective.. let’s look at it from HIS perspective. Let’s look at the way Jesus used his influence.
In Mark 2:13-17 we see Jesus choosing to sit down with tax collectors, and sinners. Throughout Jesus’s ministry we see him seeking out, serving, and making time for the LEAST of these in society. This included CHILDREN. (Hollahhh at me you stay-at-home moms)
Your God given influence is right where you are with the people you’re with. Maybe God has chosen to enrich your life with ministering to the least of these: children, sinners, the misfits. Maybe he has you at home with your kid’s this season. Don’t forget, this is the same influence God chose for his son. Preaching to my own heart: try not to look at someone else’s influence and covet it.
Jesus didn’t seek influence.. he sought people, and these people were usually people you wouldn’t expect. How can you reach those in your sphere of God given INFLUENCE today?
Thank you, beautifully said
