Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22
Christmas reminds me of the truth that we are in desperate need of a Savior. A Savior who brings HOPE of transformation.
What if we took this advent season to really question: Do YOU and I really WANT to change? That is the question that I have been examining my heart with recently. You see, the Bible mandates a dramatic call to obedience.
“Then he said to them all: whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
Are you truly willing to give it all up? Whatever you are tightly holding onto? The worry, the money, the location, the control, the people-pleasing, the boyfriend, the comfort you find in eating, perfectionism, climbing the corporate ladder, obsessing over your imperfections, jealousy…
Yes, you heard me. The call isn’t an easy one, we nurse the sin that that is hardest to give up. We make excuses for it. We coddle it. We justify it. For his Glory and the call of obedience, will you do it? Will you ask him to take your hand and lead you, strip you, and make you a NEW creation in him. Abide in him he says, and be transformed by his Grace. Give it up, freedom is here.
