“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble it be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
“14 On that day the Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of Israel; so that they revered him, just as they had revered Moses all the days of his life.” (Joshua 4:14)
If God asked you to do it, then he will see you through it. God appointed Joshua to lead the great nation of Israel after Moses passed away. He repeatedly encourages Joshua with the promises of his presence, and favor. “…Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5)
His next encouragement to Joshua is to be, “strong and courageous.” (Joshua 1:6) Sometimes we get appointed to a calling, or feel that we are supposed to be stepping out for the Lord. The book of Joshua reminds us that God is with us, he promises not to fail us, and he asks us to be courageous. God encourages Joshua to never stray from the book of the law, “ This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success” (Joshua 1:8)
As a leader, or when we receive our calling, God shows us the exact recipe for success. As we walk in his word and meditate on his promises, he will direct us, and uphold us, showing us where we should go.
