For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. – Romans 1:16-17
As a kid, I looked forward to Sundays in Thailand. On many Sundays, after going to church, we would go to a pool to swim. One pool we frequented was called, “The 700 Year Stadium Pool.” It was the ultimate pool, a huge olympic style pool with about 7 competitive diving boards. They were all of varying heights, starting with a low diving board, all the way up to a height of 30 feet.
I remember jumping off the first diving board, then the second, and finally MUSTERING up the courage to jump off the third. It took years for me to be brave enough to jump off that third one. But, the very top one, I never did get enough courage to jump off that one.
Paul says in Romans, that it is the power of God and the Gospel to those who believe, that bring us from FAITH TO FAITH. As we continue to surrender and put our trust in God, our faith becomes more bold. As we read the Scriptures, and believe in His power to work on our behalf, we grow. We grow from one height of faith to the next. And as we grow stronger in faith, we also experience NEW heights. And from those heights, we begin to see God clearer, we see his righteousness, and as we look from that top diving board, we behold a majestic, beautiful picture.
When we believe, God works, and we begin to be transformed, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:18) He takes us from Faith to Faith, and from Glory to Glory. It is God at work, sanctifying, transforming, and most of all helping us gain perspective and a sense of AWE from the new heights of faith that we are experiencing.
