We have gotten passports done for all three of our children when they were newborns! We had one done at 2 weeks old because we were leaving the country soon after he was born. We have already traveled to Guatemala with our boys this year, and our next international stop is SPAIN!
I know it can be difficult to figure out passports for babies, so I want to share some how to’s with you.
There are TWO big challenges with getting an infant passport:
1. The number one thing I would say is that getting the baby to open their eyes is a STRUGGLE, and getting them to face STRAIGHT-head on is nearly impossible.
Make sure you go through the whole list to see all the things you will need to bring. You will have to bring a birth certificate among other things.
Now, for the picture. They have made this a lot easier these days I always download the app Passport Photo Booth and take my own photos. Then I snap my own babies picture and then you can either order it through them or send it to a local place (think CVS, Walgreens, etc) to pick up the picture.
So, yes, I take my own pictures on my iPhone. It is way easier to do this for a baby than to have someone else take the picture. I have done both! Take it from me. Put a white sheet behind the baby and snap away.
Hope this helps you navigate how to take baby passport pictures! Enjoy traveling with your littlest ones!
