By Faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going (Hebrews 11:8)
Abraham was called to obey, not knowing where he was going. Moses was called to Egypt, not knowing the extent of opposition he would face. Noah was called to build an ark to save his family, despite being ridiculed for the task. They were all asked to act on the unseen.
Jonah was called to Nineveh, a wretched city with little hope, and yet he disobeyed God and fled. (Jonah 1:1-2)
Each of these lives were interrupted by God. God did not ask these people to lead comfortable, stable lives. None of these tasks/calls were small, all of these calls turned each of these people’s lives UPSIDE down and on a completely different trajectory. God was asking big/daunting tasks from these people. None of their lives turned out the way they imagined, or had envisioned. God orchestrated their lives.
God makes it very clear that none of these calls looked appealing, or exciting. Abraham had to reside, “like a stranger in a foreign country.” (Hebrews 11:9) Yet, they all believed and went because of Faith. Jonah, disliked what he saw, so he fled. But, God pursued Jonah until he obeyed. Are you letting God interrupt your life and your plans?
